Vannes. An artist Smurf is raging in town
It's a mystery. At least two Smurfs made of mosaics have been stuck on municipal buildings in Vannes (Morbihan) in recent days. But no one knows who did it.
Holy Smurf! Everyone knows the Smurfs , a Belgian youth comic strip series created by Peyo in 1958, telling the story of an imaginary people of small blue creatures living in a mushroom village in the middle of a vast forest. Well, apparently they have joined Vannes (Morbihan) for new adventures.
Indeed, in recent days a rugby Smurf in a blue and blue jersey made of mosaic has appeared at the entrance to the La Rabine stadium where the Vannes Rugby Club plays in Pro D2. A Smurf has also been reported near the rampart gardens on a business. This one is inspired by the urban artist Bansky and his "Flower Bomber". Both "works" bear the enigmatic initials of the artist: PDO.
Each time, for the Smurfs, it was municipal buildings that were targeted. "We have no idea who is doing this" they say at the town hall, where they are lost in conjecture. And now we are waiting to see other Smurfs appear. On the other hand, a third creation, still by the same - or the same - author, is positioned on a building on Place de la Poissonnerie. This time, it is a Breton couple who have been stuck on a building. A tribute to the Fêtes d'Arvor which is taking place on August 14 and 15, 2021 in Vannes? Smurf-eating, right?
